Headteacher – Newick CE Primary School

Salary range: L13 – L19

The Governing Board are seeking to appoint a new Headteacher, after our Headteacher of eleven years moved on to head up a school significantly larger than ours.

Newick Primary School is a single form entry village school, with an EYFS class and one class per year group. Based in the heart of rural East Sussex we overlook woodland, and are privileged therefore to also have a Forest School.

In 2011 we were rated outstanding by Ofsted, and in 2017 we were rated outstanding in our SIAMS inspection.
Our new Head will understand the challenges that those ratings bring and will be committed to maintaining excellence across the School in the years ahead.

Our new Head will also be committed to maintaining our distinctiveness and effectiveness as a Voluntary Controlled Church of England School.

Newick Primary School is also a Teaching School. The new Head should have the commitment to expand the capacity of the Teaching School in order that its requirements to recruit teachers, undertake school to school support and provide CPD opportunities in line with DfE expectations are fulfilled.

Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.
If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
